About AirTrans

1. What is AirTrans?
AirTrans is a 100% free software for sharing photos and videos among smartphones, tablets, and computers without using cables or cellular data.
2. What operating systems does AirTrans support?
AirTrans supports cross-platform file transfer among Android & iOS smartphones and Windows PCs.
3. How does AirTrans work? Do I need cables, Bluetooth, or an active Wi-Fi?
No, you don’t need any cable or turn on the Bluetooth. When both sending and receiving devices joined the same local WiFi, it is preferred to use WiFi. Otherwise, AirTrans will create a free Wi-Fi hotspot to set up connection. The transmission speed can be up to 10MB per second, 200 times faster than Bluetooth.
4. Is there any limitation on the size of the file to be transferred?
There is no limit on file size. The average transfer speed is up to 10 MB / s. And the larger the file, the longer it takes.

Transmission between mobile devices

The sending and receiving devices should join the same WiFi. The sender needs to tap the “Send” button on the main interface of AirTrans, then selects the files that need to be shared. The receiver, tap the "Receive" button to get connected.

1. Transmission between iOS devices
Devices below iOS 8 need to connect to the same WiFi. iOS 9 and above devices need the WLAN permission.
2. Transmission between iOS and Android devices
After both sides choose "Send" / "Receive", tap the QR code on the sidebar to setup a WiFi hotspot or tap the “Help me” -> “Generate WiFi” button on android devices. And then iOS device scan the QR code within the app or manually join the WiFi to get connected.
3. Transmission between Android devices
After both sides choose "Send" / "Receive", one side needs to tap the QR code on the sidebar to setup a WiFi hotspot or tap the “Help me” -> “Generate WiFi” button on android devices. The other side, scan the QR code within the app or manually join the WiFi to get connected.
4. Why can't I get connected with others?
Make sure both sides joined the same WiFi. If so, check whether the other side is in the corresponding state (Receive/Send) or currently connected to PC or backing up files to PC. Please disconnect it from PC or wait for the current task to be completed and try reconnecting it.
5. Will the generated WiFi hotspots consume my cellular data?
No. All transmission functions that AirTrans owns will not consume any mobile data.
6. Why is the transmission slow?
There are many factors that affect the transmission speed, such as the distance between the two devices, WiFi signal, SD card reading speed, etc. Please minimize the distance between both devices, and turn off the interference application.

Transmission between mobile device and PC

After downloading AirTrans on your phone and computer, tap the scanning icon on the top left corner on your phone and then scan the QR code at the left bottom of PC within AirTrans to set up connection.
1. I’ve scanned the QR code on PC. Why the prompt says “Connecting failed”?
This case could be caused either by your devices not connected to the same local area network (LAN), or your router’s firewall restraint. If you know the IP address of your phone, you can ping your phone to check whether your phone could be connected to the same local network as your PC. If all is alright, you could try to reboot AirTrans both on your PC and phone separately, and then use your phone to scan the QR code to see if they are connected.
2. What’s the storage path of the backups?
Files are stored by default to the largest available hard disk. Users can change the path via the Settings option.
3. Will the backups be compressed?
No. AirTrans backs up your photos in 100% High Quality. It even won’t change the file’s name.
4. Will all the data be deleted after uninstalling AirTrans?
No, you can keep all the data by leaving the checkbox “Delete all the data” unchecked. Webshare

This sharing feature applies to those receivers who haven’t install AirTrans. Make sure the sender and receiver should join the same WiFi. Then the sender should tap the “Try more sharing way” on the main screen and then select the required sharing file, and the receiver opens the specified link in the browser to receive the file.

* If the sender and receiver can’t join the same local WiFi, the sender(Android user only) can choose "Generate WiFi" to create a WiFi hotspot. The receiver can connect to that WiFi to set up connection.
1. Why can't the receiver open the specified address when transferring files between iOS devices?
Please ensure that both devices are connected to the same WiFi. Please minimize the distance between the receiving and sending devices, turn off the interference application, and avoid other operations during transmission.
2. Is Webshare feature safe?
The Webshare function is a locally constructed service. When the receiver opens the site address, only the photos sent by the sender himself/herself can be browsed, and other data is not stored in the service. And once transmission is completed or disconnected by one side, the local service will be automatically stopped.

Other Questions

1. What’s the “Lock” feature?
"Lock” feature avoids users from deleting photos unintentionally. You cannot delete those locked photos unless you unlocked them first.
2.What’s the Privacy Album?
After setting the pattern lock, you can import photos that you don’t want others to see from the local album to the Privacy Album. The Privacy Album will encrypt those photos. You can optionally delete the original file (which can be recovered from the “Recently deleted” in your local album) to protect privacy.
